2008 yazında yaz tatilimizi geçirmek için gittiğimiz Çeşme’de kaldığımız otelin çok yakınında oturan eşsiz dostlarımız Ufuk ve Mustafa’nın o yaz kendileri aldıkları 1972 model İmpala bizi dostlarımızla Klasik Otomobil Kulubu Ayda1 Ocak buluşmasını da gerçekleştirdiğimiz El Klasik showroom açılışına kadar getirdi...
Eşimin benden habersiz arkadaşlarımızdan satın aldığı bu arabayı, aylarca süren bir restorasyondan geçirildikten sonra, tam benim doğum günümde üstüne konulan bir pasta ile karşıma çıkması bana büyük bir sürpriz olmuştu.
Bundan sonra Impala’mızla yapılan geziler eşim Leon’u klasik otomobillere karşı daha da tutkulu hale getirdi. Daha sonra yeni klasikler eklendi “ailemize”. Klasik Otomobil Kulübü’ne üye olmamızla birlikte bu tutkunun sadece eşimde olmadığını öğrendim. Bu güzel kulübün faaliyetlerine katılıp, bizim ile aynı zevk ve kaygıları paylaşan yeni dostlar edindik.
Leon, arabaların sayısı artınca yıllardır süre gelen merakını daha sistemli bir çalışma haline getirmek istedi. Klasik otomobilleri ilgilenen herkese gösterme ve meraklılarıyla paylaşma arzusu onu EL Klasik Showroom açmasına kadar götürdü. Bir açılış yapmaya karar verince gün belirledik. Kulübün Genel Sekreteri sevgili Tuna Arsay ile konuşup 8 Ocak 2011 EL Klasik Showroom açılışı’na KOK üyelerini ve dostlarımızı davet ettik. Böylece açılış kulübün Ocak ayı event’i olmuştu.
O gün geldiğinde ise çok heyecanlıydık. Eşim için bir ilk olan bu yer onu dostlarıyla buluşturacaktı. Sabah erkenden kahvaltı bile etmeden çıkan eşim günün en iyi şekilde geçmesi için tüm detayları düşünmüştü. Bir gece evvel özel olarak parlatılan arabaları ve catering servisini kontrol etmek için erkenden showroomun kapıları açıldı. Gün boyunca içlerinde birçok KOK üyesi de bulunan yüzlerce kişi bizimle heyecanımızı paylaştılar. Saat 17 .00 gibi pastamızı kesmek için Leon, KOK Başkanı Aydın Harezi ve eşi Reyhan Hanım’ı davet etti. Onlarla beraber pastayı kesmek, tüm klasik otomobil kulübü camiasının göstermiş olduğu ilgi bizi çok onurlandırdı. EL Klasik Showroom’daki arabalara herkesin hayran kalması, bu merakın orada gözle görülür şekilde artması bizi çok memnun etti.
Burası eşimin hem iş stresini atacağı hem de içinde bulunmaktan zevk alacağı bir yer olmuştu. Şimdi de Showroom da klasik tutkunlarının buluşma noktası olması için bir ay içinde EL Klasik Cafe isimli bir cafe açmayı planlıyoruz. Gelenler bu özel arabalarla birlikte olacak aynı zamanda kahvelerini yudumlayacaklar.

You may never know where your passion for automobiles or a friend’s beloved 1972 Impala may take you.
Our dear friends Ufuk and Mustafa had bought a 1972 Impala in the summer of 2008, the summer we vacationed in Cesme, in a hotel near their summer home. This car sparked a reaction that brought us to the opening of the El Klasik Showroom, during which we also had our Once A Month January meeting.
My husband bought this car in secret and following months of restoration he surprised me on my birthday with a cake on top of it.
Following this, each trip we took in our Impala fed Leon’s passion for classic automobiles even further. New classics were added to our “family”. With our membership to the Classic Automobile Club I realized that this passion was shared by many others. We participated in club activities and made new friends sharing the same joys and worries.
As Leon increased the number of his cars, he started to think of a way to turn this hobby into a more systematic work. He wanted to show the classic automobiles to all enthusiasts and share his joy. This desire led him to open the El Klasik Showroom. We decided to hold an opening ceremony. Collaborating with Dear Tuna Arsay, our club’s general secretary, we determined January 8th, 2011 as a good date and invited the CAC members and friends to El Klasik Showroom. Thus our opening constituted the January event of our club.
As the day approached we became very excited. This place was a first for my husband and was to provide a platform to gather all his friends. On the morning of the opening he left home without even having breakfast and went to take care of details, trying to ensure that everything went flawlessly. The cars had been polished the night before. The showroom doors were opened early to check on the cars and the catering. Hundreds of friends, including CAC members shared our pride and joy throughout the day. Around 5.00pm Leon invited the CAC President Aydin Harezi to cut the cake. We were very moved by the enthusiasm the classic automobile club members showed. The admiration of our guests of the automobiles in the showroom and the visible increase in the fascination with this hobby truly thrilled us.
This place had become a location in which my husband could relax from the stress of his work and enjoy himself. We are now planning to open a cafe, the El Klasik Cafe inside the showroom, for enthusiasts to gather and spend time together. The customers will find the opportunity to enjoy their coffees surrounded by these beautiful automobiles.
